Here are some photos of Karan’s second surf on Waikiki.
I waited and waited and waited for his stand up on surfboard shots, but ZZZZ ….. wasn’t able to catch those rare moments.
Karan is wearing his newly bought rash guard in the photos.
FYI, rash guard protects your skin from the harmful UV rays of the sun and surfer’s rash (from laying on the surfboard to paddle out to the wave breaks).

After work today, the three amigos (Karan, Radim & Kim) wanted to go surfing.
I don’t know how they could go surfing after a full day of work (6am – 3pm). But I guess that was their way of unwind after a long day.
We just walked to Waikiki beach from our apartment since there was no need to drive.

Me carrying my boogie board

What is boogie boarding (bodyboarding)?
- Boogie boarding is where you ride a wave on a much shorter surfboard that is made of foam. It’s a real blast!
Radim and Kim paddled into the waves and started riding while Karan get a surf lesson (see previous post).
I just chilled on the beach. I tried to take some surf photos of the three amigos, but my little Canon point and shoot camera could only do so much … See photos below.

Karan has been itching to catch a wave since the moment he set his foot on Oahu.
Finally, on Wednesday afternoon, Karan, Kim and Radim hit Waikiki beach for some good surfing.
Since Kim and Radim already knew how to surf, they went straight to the ocean to catch some waves, leaving Karan with the macho surf instructor.

When is my turn?

Finally it was Karan’s turn. Step 1: Paddle, paddle with your arms!

Step 2: Kneel

Step 3: Get up and then turn your front leg

Look Ma! I am surfing!
Let’s look CLOSER!

Correct style – Check!
Spirit: High! Check!
In Ocean: Not yet!

Now put it to test!

A different instructor takes over

Paddle!

Instructor on the right: “Paddle! Faster!”

Karan: My arms are going to fall off soon …

1008th paddle …
After thousands of paddling, it was too far for me to see Karan. But I was sure he had fun paddling, and trying to stand up on the board, and maybe catching a couple waves.
Maybe…
